BUS DRIVER- pay ranges $17-$18/hr

 

SPLIT SHIFT: 6:30-9:30 am/1:30-6:30 pm

 

Job Summary:

The Bus Driver works closely with the Learning Academy’s management team to efficiently plan daily bus schedules to support the program. Maintains appropriate vehicle records and required training and is always focused on the safety of the children. Ensures that vehicles are consistently clean and safe.

Qualifications:

The Bus Driver’s qualifications must meet or exceed state licensing requirements for the position.

Job Responsibilities:

General

  • Must meet the minimum requirements set by the state childcare regulatory agency for appropriate vehicle.
  • Must be capable of lifting, carrying, and holding children in accordance with local state requirements.
  • Must be able to react quickly with sound judgment and problem-solving skills in complex and critical situations, such as injuries and accidents.
  • Hold current certification in both CPR and First Aid as well at transportation training requirement.
  • Attend vehicle safety training as needed/required.
  • Inform Learning Academy’s management of any issues that might impact the ability to operate a motor vehicle safely.
  • Inform Learning Academy’s management of any issues that occur after the initial hire date that affect the status of the driver’s license. This could include, but not be limited to, reckless driving offenses, moving violations, and offenses involving drugs or alcohol.
  • Perform the required pre-trip safety inspection of the vehicle as well as required vehicle evacuation drills.
  • Be able to perform safe-driving responsibilities while maintaining supervision of children.
  • Able to interact effectively with all children. And uses positive guidance techniques consistent with KRK policies and procedures.
  • Strives to prevent injuries. Handle emergencies, accidents, and injuries appropriately if they occur.
  •  Understands and implements emergency procedures in cases of fire, tornado, chemical leak, or other emergencies.
  • When necessary, can administer CPR/First Aid, including lifting and carrying injured children.
  • Maintains professional conduct when working with parents, staff, and visitors.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality regarding children and families.
  • Prepares and forwards forms requested by the Director.
  • Meets or exceeds state training requirements.
