The Sales & New Business Producer will focus on growing the agency through new client relationships, referral partner development, and consultative insurance sales.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys people, has strong communication skills, likes building relationships, and wants to be part of a growing local business with a clear mission.

This is not a “quote and hope” sales role. We want someone who can learn how to educate clients, uncover needs, explain coverage, and help people make confident insurance decisions.

Responsibilities

The Sales & New Business Producer will be responsible for:

  • Developing new personal and commercial insurance opportunities
  • Following up with inbound leads and referral opportunities
  • Building relationships with mortgage lenders, real estate agents, small business owners, and community partners
  • Quoting home, auto, renters, life, business, and other insurance products
  • Educating clients on coverage options, limits, deductibles, and policy differences
  • Maintaining accurate notes and activity in the agency’s CRM and management system
  • Following agency sales processes and follow-up cadences
  • Cross-selling appropriate coverage when it benefits the client
  • Helping clients understand the value of working with an independent insurance agency
  • Representing Gorman Group Insurance professionally in the Clayton and Johnston County community

Insurance experience is helpful, but the right attitude, work ethic, and communication skills are just as important.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Property & Casualty insurance license preferred, or willingness to obtain
  • Life insurance license preferred, or willingness to obtain
  • Previous sales experience strongly preferred
  • Experience with CRM systems, agency management systems, or quoting platforms is a plus
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Local knowledge of Clayton, Johnston County, or surrounding communities is a plus

Preferred Education

A college degree is strongly encouraged, especially in business, communications, marketing, finance, sales, risk management, insurance, or a related field.

Candidates without a degree may still be considered if they have strong sales ability, relationship-building experience, professional communication skills, and a willingness to become licensed and trained in insurance.

Schedule and Location

This is an in-office position based in Clayton, NC.

Regular schedule is Monday through Friday during normal business hours. Some occasional networking, community, or business development events may take place outside normal office hours.

This is not a remote position.

Compensation

Compensation will be based on experience, licensing, and role fit.

This role may include a base salary plus commission and/or bonus opportunities. Final compensation structure will depend on experience, licensing, and production ability.
